Now that the holidays are over and Wisconsin has snow again, it’s time to revisit all the wonderful winter sporting opportunities throughout the state. Whether at a ski resort for downhill skiing, tubing, or snowboarding or at a park or reforestation area for cross country skiing or snowshoeing, Wisconsin has many choices to select from and enjoy yet this winter. And don’t forgot all the snowmobile trails and ice fishing!
Did you know that Wisconsin (and especially northern Wisconsin) is the birthplace of snowmobiling and offers some of the best snowmobiling? According to the DNR, more than 200,000 registered snowmobiles hit Wisconsin’s 25,000 miles of groomed trails each winter. Following also are details for a special Candlelight Ski, Hike and Snowshoe Event in Baraboo.
On Saturday, February 7th, the Friends of Mirror Lake State Park near Baraboo will be hosting a Candlelight Ski, Hike, and Snowshoe Event from 6pm to 8pm at the beach. Join them on two easy, one-mile trails which are lit by torches.
The Friends will be offering complimentary hot beverages around a roaring bonfire. A 2015 Wisconsin State Park Sticker is required and available for purchase at the Park Office. Come out to enjoy all the winter fun at Mirror Lake State Park on February 7th.
